UART Solutions

MaxLinear UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter) Solutions is a  broad portfolio that includes 8-Bit/VLIO, I2C/SPI, PCI, USB, LPC, and combo UARTs.

8-Bit/VLIO UARTs

MaxLinear 8-Bit/VLIO UARTs offer devices from 1 to 8 channels with FIFO sizes up to 128Bytes and simplify hardware design and software development. Each UART has a parallel 8-bit bus interface and offloads the serialization and de-serialization of the data from the MCU or processor. The UARTs Intel interface has a separate address, data, read and write lines. The UARTs Motorola interface has an individual address and data lines, but the read/write lines are shared. The UARTs VLIO interface has separate read and write lines, but the address and data lines are multiplexed. Almost all 8-bit UARTs are compatible with the industry-standard 16550 UARTs; therefore, they can use the standard serial port drivers in nearly all operating systems.
