EPCOS / TDK B594 Leaded Disk AEC-Q200 PTC Thermistors can replace high-power fixed resistors for capacitor charging and feature overcurrent and short-circuit protection, and inrush current limiting. These inrush current limiters have the advantage of intrinsic safety and are not damaged when directly connected to V_max, even without additional current limitations. For example, if a short circuit should occur within a device when it is switched on, the component very quickly limits the current to non-critical values. Typical applications include converters and power supplies for industrial and household electronics. The series is also ideal for e-mobility, including onboard charging circuits and the charging and discharging of DC link capacitors in the drives of hybrid and electric vehicles.
